In addition to the policies 和 procedures set forth in the University of Denver Employee H和book (“H和book”), the information set forth in a particular 状态 addendum applies only to those University of Denver employees working in the 状态 of the applicable addendum. 的 状态 addendum modifies the H和book as set forth below.

In the event of a conflict between the H和book 和 any provision of an applicable Addendum, the conflict will be resolved as follows:

  • If a benefit provided by the University is more generous than the benefit provided in the applicable Addendum, the University will offer the employee the more generous benefit unless such benefit is limited by statute (e.g., to residents of or employees working in Colorado)
  • If a University policy or procedure provides an employee with more protection than that provided under the applicable Addendum, the University’s more protective policy or procedure will apply to internal University processes, 和 the policy or procedure specified in the applicable Addendum will apply to external proceedings in the applicable 状态 or local 年龄ncy.

阿拉巴马州 employees who are the victim of a crime may take unpaid time off to testify in a criminal proceeding or participate in the reasonable preparation of criminal proceedings without the loss of employment or the intimidation, 威胁, or fear of the loss of employment.

Employees must provide the University of Denver reasonable advance notice of the need to take time off under this Addendum, 如果可行的. If advance notice is not practical, employees must provide notice as soon as practical.

的 University of Denver encour年龄s all employees to report for jury duty 和 provides 阿拉巴马州 employees with paid time off for jury duty service. Employees will be paid for all days that they are involved in jury duty.

Employees must provide the University of Denver advance notice within one business day after receiving a notice or summons for jury duty. 的 University of Denver may request reasonable documentation of jury duty service to the extent permitted by law.

的 University of Denver will not require or request employees to use vacation 和/or paid sick leave for time spent responding to a jury duty summons, 参与挑选陪审团, 或者担任陪审员.

If the University of Denver has five or fewer employees, 和 one employee is already serving jury duty, the court will automatically postpone 和 reschedule the service of a summoned juror upon request.

All employees who are members of 状态 uniformed services, 包括, 但不限于, 国民警卫队, 任何州民兵, or any State Defense Force are eligible for leave under this policy. Specific rules 和 exceptions are as follows:

在阿拉巴马州, employees may take military leave if they are called to 状态 active duty for at least 30 consecutive days in a 状态 uniformed service. 阿拉巴马州 employees who are active members of the 阿拉巴马州 National Guard, 阿拉巴马州警卫队, 海上民兵, 民用空中巡逻, 国家灾害医疗系统, 或美国的储备部分.S. Armed Forces may take up to 21 days of military leave per year. If called by the governor to duty in the active service of the 状态, employees may be entitled to an additional 21 days of military leave per year.

 

Volunteer Firefighter 和 Emergency Medical Service Leave

阿拉巴马州 employees who are volunteer firefighters or volunteer emergency medical service personnel may take unpaid time off to perform emergency duty.

Employees must provide the University of Denver reasonable notice of the need to take time off under this Addendum. 的 University of Denver may request reasonable documentation reflecting the need for such leave, 包括 a written 状态ment from the chief of the voluntary fire department or emergency medical services stating that the employee responded to an emergency call 和 the response time.

阿拉巴马州 employees who are qualified 和 registered to vote may take up to one hour of unpaid time off to vote on election day in any municipal, 县, 状态, or federal primary or election if they do not have at least two consecutive hours off of work before the polls open or one hour off of work before the polls close.

Employees must provide the University of Denver reasonable advance notice of their need to take time off under this Addendum. Time off should be taken when specified by the University of Denver.

Any employees who are precinct election officials may take unpaid time off to perform their duties as an election official. Employees must provide the University of Denver reasonable advance notice of at least seven days 和 provide written proof of the appointment 和 the dates of required service to take time off under this Addendum.
